HOBBYBOSS 86517 1:350 USS Iowa BB-61 The Iowa was launched on August 27, 1942 and served on March 22 the following year. She moved to the Pacific in 1944 and joined the Pacific Fleet, she participated in the Marshall Islands Battle of the Mariana Islands, the Battle of Leyte Gulf and other battles. She was involved in the Korean War in the 1950s and was used post-war as a training ship, she entered the reserve and then was re-enabled in the 1980s. In April 17, 1989, the Iowa's turret explosion killed 47 sailors. In 1990, Iowa received a decommissioning notice and was removed from the list of active-duty warship on March 17, 2006, and transferred to a Texas Bay National Defense Reserve fleet of the old warship group. In the future the Iowa will become a floating museum.
