Mikoyan-GurevichMiG-23BN ("Flogger-H") Soviet ground attack variable-wing jet fighterintroduced in 1973. Based on MiG-23B, equipped with R-29-300 engine as fittedto con temporary fighter variants, and "type 3" wings. There wereother minor changes in electron ics and equipment, and some changes were madeduring its long production run which lasted until 1985 with 624 built. Regarded as an interim type by the Soviets, most were exported and onlya small number served in Soviet Air Force Fron tal Aviation regiments. Adowngraded variant was sold to Third World customers and proved to be fairlypopular and effective.
