RMS Olympic is White Star the first Olympic class cruise ship, but also the sister ship of the RMS Titanic and RMS British. Harland Wolff shipyard started in December 16, 1908, it launched in 1910. Since the 1912 Titanic shipwreck lessons the Olympic was recalled to its shipyards to build an improved structure.
In World War I, HMT Olympic was requisitioned by the Royal Navy as a troop transport equipment and some artillery, and the appearance was changed to painted camouflage. Olympic was on the way May 12, 1918 to return to Southampton and when she located a German submarine U-103, because the camouflage paint played a confusing role, the U boat was not able to launch an effective attack. Eventually the Olympic rammed the submarine and sunk it.
After the war, the White Star Company's faced financial crisis, and was forced to merge with Cunard.
