Hirobo’s new SDX .50 features cutting-edge head design that borrows technology from the Turbulence .90, winner of the 2007 Masters and 2008 XFC Championships. More tunable and adjustable than any .50, the SDX can be adjusted to meet a wide range of performance levels… from beginners learning to hover to seasoned 3D or F3C pilots challenging the skies.

The new FZ-5 Rotor Head delivers the most precise control ever created for a .50 size ship.

  • The rotor head furnishes outstanding control for any maneuver, while a precision machined, aluminum hub and spindle design easily cope with the most demanding 3D flying.
  • An end to interaction… all three control bell cranks rotate on a single pivot as opposed to the conventional two or three. In addition, the new swash plate delivers almost 60% more precise movement than our older aileron and elevator throws… result: there’s no binding, and we’ve virtually eliminated control interaction
  • Two mixing options… unlike ordinary.50s that deliver only 120º eCCPM mixing geometry, the SDX provides both 120º and 135º options for unprecedented precision and rock solid control
  • A whopping 30º collective pitch range delivers the “POP” required for 3D. In addition, cyclic range approaches 9º of deflection for exceptionally quick pitch and roll rates

"I just received the SDX from Japan a few days ago and was able to get it up in the air on Sunday, March 15th 2009. I took it down to the Atlantic City field and Jeff Green took a turn at the controls. We had a good time in spite of the weather. I could feel an immediate change from my previous Hirobo 50. With the addition of the new downsized Turbulence FZ-5 rotor head the helicopter took everything I threw at it. The tick tocks were solid and quick and I didn't have to fight the helicopter because this new 120/135 swash eliminated all the interaction. It was a BLAST to fly. I look forward to the up coming weekends when its get a bit warmer."

SDX Update,
"I have returned from a long weekend in the sun at Hurlock MD. We brought out Hirobo’s finest. The heavy hitters last weekend were the Tow Cobra, MD500, Turbulence D3 and of course the New Hirobo SDX. The SDX turned heads every time we turned over the engine. We had a weekend of successful flights and had a chance to really showcase the new SDX FZ-5 rotor head. My favorite part of the event was the night flying. We didn’t have any night gear on the SDX but we did have two spotlights. The spotters were able to stay with the helicopter and the SDX really made a memorable impression .
Hirobo representatives will be flying the SDX at your local events so keep an eye out."
