When the 30 year abandonment of 4-stroke engines in 500 cc races came to an end, Honda came up with the all-new, technologically and aesthetically innovative RC 211V. This 4-stroke bike was an instant hit: it dominated the first GP1 world championship and took both constructors' and riders' titles, with Valentino Rossi winning 14 out of the 16 GPs.
