This highly competitive Spanish team is managed by former 250cc World Champion Sito Pons. The team has poured all its hopes and resources into its new signing for the 2003 season, Max Biaggi. Last year the Brazilian rider A. Barros succeeded in clocking up two wins with the all-new RC211V at Motegi and Valencia. Thanks to invaluable experience with these motorcycles and the indisputable class of its riders, M. Biaggi and T. Ukawa, the team expects to enjoy excellent results, thus making the 2003 Moto GP season more enthralling than ever. Biaggi (Rossi's arch-rival) has already shown himself to be a champion-class rider by taking the RC211V to the podium several times after thrilling duels with his rivals: thanks to his skills, the Spanish team is currently lying second in the team championship, in the slipstream of the seemingly unreachable Repsol team.
