Review of the NINCO World Cup Awards Banquet from our Team USA Captain, Mark Azarraga:
NINCO provided the racers with a great dinner after the race, and they also provided a great awards ceremony. I've never seen such camaraderie amongst opposing teams! Everyone cheered for each team that received its awards and there's really nothing like it in the world. It's an amazing thing NINCO has accomplished by being able to bring countries together like this for something we enjoy, slot. Big thanks go to NINCO for starting and keeping on with such an event and big thanks also go to A.B. Gee of UK for hosting the best NWC to date.
I personally want to thank Bob from Model Rectifier Corporation along with the entire MRC staff for all the things they do. Team USA for the NINCO World Cup exists because of MRC and US slotters can't thank them enough for that. They have absolutely no obligation to do such things, but what's impressive is they still do it! NINCO is alive and well in the United States because of MRC and its dealers, and again, thank you all! Last but not least, big thanks go to NINCO and its NWC 2008 staff!

After 6 hours of racing at the famous Formula 1 track in Silverstone, England, on October 31/November 1st, the NINCO World Cup is over. Mark Azarraga, Jason Stanley & Kurt Moser (MRC's Team USA) have certainly put the international world of slot car racing on notice! We're very proud of Mark, Jason & Kurt's performance. The rules are very strict and all teams raced NINCO's new, Acura LMP2 race car... with no magnets or added weight allowed. The track was a purpose built 16 lane affair with lots of very tight and very tricky corners. In the Superpole event on Friday, Oct 31st, Mark won Pole Position for Team USA with a blistering time of 12.855 seconds. Like full scale racing, winning the pole does not guarantee winning the race, and Spain took the 1st place trophy.
1st Spain
2nd Italy
3rd Portugal
4th USA (2 laps from being on the podium)
It absolutely could have gone either way... it was an incredible race... the closest and most exciting annual event ever.
A NINCO official called me from trackside after the race ended, to express his elation about the performance, friendliness, courtesy and helpfulness shown by our team. He said their racing skills were exemplary and it just wasn't their day! Everyone was talking about the skills shown by our guys and I spoke to Mark as well. He overjoyed with the Team's performance, but naturally disappointed coming so close but missing a podium finish. However, Mark received the award for fastest lap against the best and fastest in the world. His fastest time was 12.860 seconds. He said the practice the Team was able to get on the technical track layout at Sling Shot Speedway in Lawrenceville, Georgia as well as the car setup they used really paid off. Here's the race positions and total lap times:
1. Spain - 1362
2. Italy - 1351
3. Portugal - 1339
4. USA - 1337
5. Belgium - 1335
6. Netherlands - 1328
7. Argentina - 1313
8. Germany - 1297
9. Switzerland - 1296
10. France - 1286
11. UK - 1261
12. UK Wild Card2 - 1245
13. Sweden - 1235
14. UK Wild Card - 1229
15. Hellas/Greece - 1211
16. Andorra - 1206
In Mark's own words; "It was quite an exciting last two heats of racing between three teams: Belgium, Portugal, and USA.
Starting heat 15, Portugal was 8 laps ahead of USA, and Belgium was 4 laps ahead of USA. Belgium was on lane 12, Portugal on lane 11, and USA on lane 15. We ran lane 15 as hard as we can and we were able to cut Portugal's lead down to 3 laps at the beginning of heat 16 (final heat) and we were 1l laps ahead of Belgium.
Lane 16 was a different story. Portugal now moves to Lane 13 and USA moves to Lane 16. USA realizes it could very well get on the podium at this point. Portugal ran as hard as they can and so did we. The race finished with us only 2 laps behind according to the lap totals.
All we can say is we ran our best and we feel the team did the best it could. We're very happy with the results and the only thing we can do from here is keep working to get better."
I also want to congratulate Spain, Italy and Portugal for their podium finish this year. The racing was obviously very close, and the competition was the toughest ever. The Acura LMP 2 cars proved to be spectacular race cars, and I want to pass my best wishes and congratulations to the winning teams for their magnificent finishes.

NJ Nostalgia Race Results
The NJ Regional Ninco Challenge was held this past Sunday, 9/21/08, on the Scalextric Sport track at NJ Nostalgia Hobby in Scotch Plains, NJ.
Racers were split into 2 groups that ran qualifier rounds to give everybody some track time. The top two finishers from each group moved to the finals. Format was round robin, with drivers running 2 segments on each of the 4 lanes. Segment winner gets 4 points, 2nd gets 3 points, 3rd gets 2 points, 4th gets 1 point.
From the first group, Rich Lemence advanced with 3 segment wins, and 26 points driving a nicely painted Lexus. Brian Corea and Paul Pearlman, each drove Moslers and tied for 2nd with 21 points, so both move on to the finals.
From the 2nd group, Jeff Young cruised into the finals with 5 segment wins driving a Megane. Baden edged out Zach Weissglass by a point to complete the field for the finals.
In the finals, not much suspense; Jeff won 7 out of the 8 segments, easily winning with 31 points. The battle for 2nd was close, with Paul prevailing by a point over Rich. Baden finished 4th just a couple of points back of Rich, and Brian, plagued by spoiler issues that had to be repaired under green flag, rounded out the finals results.
Final results:
Jeff 31 points, Century 21 Megane
Paul 21 points, LeyJun Mosler
Rich 20 points, Lexus
Baden 18 points, McDonalds Megane
Brian C 10 points, Daytona Mosler
Thanks to all the racers participating, MRC, and to Joe Corea, owner of NJ Nostalgia Hobby, for hosting the 2008 NJ Regional Ninco Challenge.
132 Slot Car Race Results
Actually the field was a little thin for the NINCO Cup race here.
Still we did have 11 racers ready to rumble after the Scaleracing Endurance Race Saturday afternoon. As reported elsewhere the Mosler seems to be the car to run, although we have see good results from the Nissan and Steven got into the top 4 with a Ferrari.
First through third were Moslers, then a Ferrari then another Mosler. Next was a Nissan then a Toyota followed by an Ascari.
Kerry ran an evil handling Toyota I believe, only because he kept yelling "Oh what a feeling!!" Should have been "Come fly with me" as that is often what he did, fly off that is.
So without further comment here are the results of the Northwest NINCO Cup Race.
This was a 5 minutes per lane race marshaled.
Driver.............Laps.............Fast Lap..............Lane.
David..............398..............5.710......... .........White.
Kevin..............398..............5.706......... .........Green.
Alan.................394..............5.816335..... ........White.
Steven............389..............5.871568....... ......White.
Brett................388..............5.878........ ..........Blue.
Paul.................383..............5.929155..... ........White.
Darren............375..............5.819819...... .......Red.
Scott...............372..............5.820326...... .......Red.
Kerry...............345..............6.042979..... ........Blue.
Cody................338..............6.160099...... .......Blue.
Damian............295.............6.698960....... ......Blue.
Some very close racing with the top six all turning lap counts that would normally win our Saturday NINCO Races. In the end David ran hard enough he just pasted Kevin at the end of the race to take the win. David was faster but Kevin went for consistency and it almost paid off when David crashed in the last heat.
Steven did an amazing job to bring home a Ferrari in 4th place, and as mentioned before Kerry struggled with a bouncing Toyota. Cody did an excellent job with a 338 lap count running a 6.160099 on Blue, probably this great young man's fastest NINCO lap.
Well done to all who made the effort and turned out for the NINCO Cup Regional Finals.
Al's Hobby Shop Regional Race Results
The Chicago NINCO Regional was put on by the Great Lakes Slot Car Club at Al's Hobby Shop. The turn out was a little light, a lot of things came up to cause this. But we had 13 racers ready to race. Thanks to NINCO for the awards, and Cindy at Al's for the donuts. The track was in great shape and the shelves were full. The racing was close and I believe everyone had a good time. The winner was Neal Isler, second Frank Stubitsch, third Rich Drejcek, and Ken Isler was fourth. Lastly thanks to all the racers.

Fast Lane Slotcars & Hobbies Results
Despite extensive electrical power outages persisting throughout Ohio (thanks to Hurricane Ike.....yes it raged on even here last Sunday), we were able to hold the annual Ninco Regional Race in Cincy today. The field was smaller than normal due to many people still without power, but as you can see, we had a good representation of the spec cars for US Nationals.
Running the Monza track at 12V and cleaning tires with lint rollers between heats, we ran 8 heats of 7 minutes each for almost an hour of total track time for each racer. Ike got us again right after tech inspection - we lost electrical power for two hours so that lines to some Ohioans could be restored. So what do you do when that happens? - well, we went down the highway to "Putters" sports bar and I tried to get the competition a bit tipsy before the race. It back-fired : these guys play at a higher level after a couple of beers.
One car had stock gears, two with blue, and the other two with red gears. Though I was ineligible for competition, I was allowed to race and so I drove the Big Mac Megane with the blue gear and just tore up the field in the first half of the race. Some electrical issue (braids?) slowed it down in the second round and it sort of dogged in the final heat. Pat's Lexus got a slow start in the first few heats with stock gears and then kicked in like everything gaining ground every lap after that. Leyjun was running competitive with blue gears - a few bad offs set Gary back a few laps, but he came on strong with a 3rd place finish. James "jesfour" ran the Lambo with red gear and had problems which later showed to be a bad mesh and bad solder joint on the motor. Brian ran the Supra with red gear and well, you just can't beat this guy when everything is working. He had all the fast laps in the second round and got continually better with the Supra the entire race.
Thanks Ray for hosting another fine event. The store and tracks are impeccable and the service is always top grade. And many thanks to Ninco Bob for sponsoring and also for answering all of our questions over the last weeks/months. Bob - you know we appreciate your work here! As 1/32 scale racing enthusiasts, we like to scrutinize our toys with detail sometimes (well actually pretty often) , but we do know you are working to give us big kids a fun venue and you are "the Man" !

Hi NINCO fans…….
Exciting things are continuing to happen at MRC due to the continuing arrival of new products from NINCO. Have you seen the Hummer H2 in “Gulf” racing colors, or the new Lamborghini’s and Lexus SC-430’s available in both analog and N-Digital? The hot Ascari in “PS” livery, Porsche 934 and 997’s add to NINCO’s fast, racing stable.
But wait!! June brings the celebrated “Ecosse” version of the mythical Jaguar XK-120, another Lambo, the Citroen from the Montecarlo Rally and the “Baja” Hummer H2. Check out the awesome graphics on the new Porsche 997 “MRS”, but most of all, the magnificent Mosler Mt 900 R “LeyJun” has arrived with lightweight interior and a special, new, lightweight, transparent Lexan chassis with screw mounting for the motor. The Mosler is the indisputable, #1 NINCO racecar and this livery is absolutely gorgeous!
We’ve been asking for it and NINCO has delivered! Along with their newest Prorace Evo line of professional racing components (wheels, axles, gears, tires, etc., that are available in standard 2.48mm and 3/32” sizes to fit any brand of race car)….. here come the Prorace Evo Body Kits. Complete, disassembled bodies of some of the most competitive racecars, in the “white”, so you can paint and decorate them as you like. As long as we’re building our own highest performing racers with Prorace Evo parts and bodies, how about a Prorace Evo Chassis?? Have you always wanted the strongest way of mounting your racing NC-5 or NC-6 motor? They’ll screw mount to the new Prorace Evo Chassis. With Prorace Evo, NINCO has taken the lead in providing the highest quality, pro-level racing items available.
Speaking of racing, the racing world is buzzing about the annual NINCO World Cup. This year, 16 teams from around the world (including Team USA) will compete for the cup October 31st – November 1st at the world famous Silverstone Formula 1 racetrack in England.

Called Prorace Evo, these optional parts made of precious metals such as magnesium and titanium will now be made in two sizes, 2.48mm and 3/32" to provide the finest advanced racing parts that will fit every brand and model of slot car. NINCO's celebrated N-Digital slot racing system, with the ability to race eight cars at once using seven racing modes, and the ability to overtake by changing lanes & make necessary pit stops, continues to grow. A new Digital Starter set with Porsche 997's has been added as well as additional cars with pre-installed digital "chips" for those enthusiasts who want "plug 'n play", out of the box racing. For added excitement, a new curved, double lane changing track piece that can be used for left hand and right hand curves will create additional challenges to tax the most ardent racers. For ultimate digital control, the new N-Digital Progressive Controller with its smooth, adjustable trigger response will enhance the overall driving experience.
The new cars. Wow!! The high quality, European manufacture really shines. Given that the Tampo printing and Clear Coat applied to all the cars are absolutely gorgeous, and the balance, power and handling of the cars are developed for both magnet and no-magnet racing, the new breed of cars being released will be must haves! GT, RAID, Rally, LeMans Prototype and more will be covered. H2 Hummers, Classic & current Porsche's, Schlesser, Lexus, Mosler, Ascari, Citroen, Lamborghini & Acura are just some of the names that will get NINCO's quality treatment.
